Kulani Derm & Wellness Spa – Full-Scope Interior Design
McDonough, GA | 1,230 SF | Medical Wellness + Spa
Accessible Design Studios was commissioned to transform a first-generation white box tenant space into a bespoke dermatology and wellness destination for Kulani Derm & Wellness Spa. Located in the Argento Business Complex—a newly developed live-work-play community in McDonough, Georgia—the 1,230-square-foot space occupies the ground level of a luxury multifamily complex. The client was referred to us by a trusted commercial construction associate who recognized our expertise in delivering thoughtful, human-centered healthcare and wellness environments.
The vision for Kulani Derm was clear from the start: to create a high-end, spa-like experience that seamlessly combined clinical functionality with an atmosphere of calm, warmth, and beauty. The client sought a space that would feel like an extension of her brand—inviting, comforting, and expertly designed to support both patients and staff. Our team focused on delivering an elegant yet approachable design that could elevate everyday wellness care through intentional finishes and efficient spatial flow.
The interior program was carefully planned to include a welcoming reception and lounge area, a public restroom, a private office suite with an en-suite restroom, a break area for staff, multiple treatment rooms, as well as support spaces such as clean and soiled linen storage and a dedicated laundry zone. Despite the compact footprint, each area was designed for maximum usability and comfort, with particular attention given to circulation, privacy, and atmosphere.
The project unfolded over five phases. In Phase I: Conceptual Design, we established the overall aesthetic direction and layout strategy. This phase involved determining the level of finish, design style, and space requirements, followed by the development of conceptual floor plans, general millwork, ceiling layouts, and a curated finish palette. The design intent was presented through elevations and visual references, with one round of revisions incorporated.
Phase II: Design Development refined the approved concept with deeper coordination and technical definition. We worked with engineers as needed to align electrical, plumbing, and mechanical needs with the design, while establishing brand standards for flooring, millwork, wall treatments, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and more. Finishes and materials were finalized and approved in collaboration with the client.
In Phase III: Construction Documentation, we translated the design vision into a complete set of interior construction documents suitable to obtain a construction permit, contractor bidding and execution. These included floor plans, finish and reflected ceiling plans, life safety/egress plans, interior elevations, and detailed schedules for all relevant equipment, fixtures, and hardware. Up to two meetings were provided for document review and coordination.
Our team remained actively involved throughout Phase IV: Construction Administration, conducting virtual and in-person meetings with the contractor to review progress, manage changes, respond to field conditions, and clarify documentation as needed.
The completed concept for Kulani Derm & Wellness Spa reflects a harmonious blend of form and function—a space that supports healing, nurtures trust, and uplifts every person who walks through its doors. This project highlights Accessible Design Studios’ commitment to transforming even modest spaces into distinctive, brand-aligned environments that inspire wellness and care.
