Salon & Spa Tenant Build-out

Salon & Spa Tenant Buildout Concept at Thrive Duluth

Accessible Design Studios (ADS) was hired by a local salon owner to design a tenant buildout concept for a new location in Duluth—an expansion of their successful Atlanta-based salon. The proposed site was on the ground floor of Thrive Duluth, a newly constructed four-story mixed-use office development. The 6,000-square-foot shell space was to be divided into two distinct yet connected experiences: 4,000 square feet allocated to a full-service salon and the remaining 2,000 square feet transformed into a serene spa environment.

Engaged early in the lease negotiation process, ADS was entrusted with envisioning a design that aligned with the owner’s brand identity, operational needs, and long-term growth strategy. The team developed a comprehensive concept that balanced efficient space planning with a high-end aesthetic, incorporating functional zones for styling, washing, retail, and relaxation. The adjoining spa area was imagined as a sensory retreat—complete with layered lighting, privacy-forward layouts, and a calming material palette.

Although the project ultimately did not move forward to construction, ADS fully realized the design vision and has since captured it as a case study. This unbuilt work highlights the studio’s ability to translate early business ambitions into immersive, experience-driven interior environments—supporting entrepreneurs at the intersection of vision and feasibility.
